|EYEBRIGHT (Euphrasia officinalis)||Eyebright has been used as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antispasmodic, and astringent herb for pets with conjunctivitis. This herb has a long history for its use in eye issues. It helps relieve itchy eyes and helps with inflammation of the eyelids and blood vessels. It has been used as a preventive measure against mucus and catarrh of the eyes. Eyebright has some hepatoprotective activity (ability to prevent damage to the liver). It has been used internally for catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, conjunctivitis, and blepharitis. Other internal uses include treating inflamed nasal passages, allergies, bronchial conditions, skin ailments, and sore throat. Isolated constituents have shown antibacterial activity against E. coli, Myco. Phlei, Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus and has also shown limited anti-fungal activity.|
|FEVERFEW (Tanacetum parthenium)||Feverfew helps inhibit platelet clumping and inhibits the formation of histamine and serotonin. It inhibits the secretion of serotonin from platelet granules and proteins from leukocytes. In humans, feverfew has shown to reduce migraine incidences by at least 25% as well as reduce migraine severity. Other actions include: analgesic (pain-relieving), and inhibiting cyclooxygenase and pro-inflammatory cytokines.|
|SWEET GOLDENROD (Solidago odora)||Sweet Goldenrod has anti-inflammatory, anticatarrhal (helps to remove excess mucous), and antioxidant properties. It helps decrease the amount of mucus and inflammation in bronchial passages. It also increases renal blood flow and increases the glomerular filtration rate without stimulating the loss of sodium and chloride. Increases the flow of urine, which helps to wash out bacteria.|
|ECHINACEA ANGUSTIFOLIA (Echinacea angustifolia)||Echinacea is well known for its immune stimulating, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, anti-allergenic, and antimicrobial properties. In addition to its antioxidant and antibiotic effects, ginger also provides analgesic effects (pain relief), by possibly inhibiting the release of substance P. Ginger also helps with nausea by dampening the induced vestibular impulses to the autonomic centers of the central nervous system.|
